Roskilde Festival 2010

500 volunteers from the Danish Refugee Council and DFUNK will collect and sort bottles and cans left by 70.000 festival guests at Roskilde Festival 2010. Every can and bottle we collect will help refugees in the world’s hot spots.

This year the theme for our collection is ”climate and environment”, which means that the money we collect will be spent supporting those refugees, who are affected by climate change.

Do you want to be part of our project at Roskilde Festival?
Already now we are working at full stretch/speed with organising, mobilising and engaging volunteers to participate. Our aim is to create an experience for all who take part as well as making a valuable contribution to help refugees around the world.

You decide how much responsibility and how many hours you would like to take on when you choose to become part of the project and the fantastic volunteer community in one of the following ways:

As Co-ordinator
We need around five volunteers who would like to be a part of the main co-ordination team during the festival and during the preparations leading up to the festival. We expect that you are a good organisor and motivator, and that you are prepared to be part of a hard working team.

So if you would like to test your organisational skills as well as getting insight into how a humanitarian organisation, like the Danish Refugee Council, works, this is your chance.

The work will entail 10-15 hours in the month leading up to the festival as well as participation in the main co-ordination team during the festival.

As Team Leader
We need around 45 team leaders who each will be responsible for a team consisting of 9 collectors or sorting members. It is a requirement from the Roskilde Festival that volunteers need to be minimum 18 years to collect. We expect that you are able to keep the team together, and that you are prepared to work 3 x 8 hours during the festival and that you spend additional time on instructing and co-ordinating the team.

As Collector
We need around 430 volunteers to do the actual collecting and sorting of the bottles and cans. We expect that you report for work at the assigned hours while also enjoying the festival and that you are prepared to work 3 x 8 hours during the festival.

In return, you will get:

  • A bracelet to Roskilde Festival 2010
  • An opportunity to support a good cause while you are enjoying the festival
  • A CV showing that you are able to take responsibility during the festivities
  • A chance to stay with the other volunteers in our “refugee camp” in the camping area
  • Access to free and clean toilet and bath facilities

Write a few words about yourself to roskilde@remove-this.drc.dk and specify in the subject line which role you would like.
